CERTIFICATION

What is Paralegal Certification?

In Ohio, Paralegals are able to take voluntary examinations which test their paralegal skills. Passing an examination allows them to be recognized and to further distinguish themselves in the paralegal field. In order to take the examinations, certain requirements must be met. Our CAP members represent three of the different voluntary certification examinations.

1. The National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) - offers both the PACE Exam and the PCCE Exam - Those that pass the PCCE Exam are allowed to utilize the designation CRP (CORE Registered Paralegal) and those that pass the PACE Exam are allowed to utilize the designation RP (Registered Paralegal).

2. The Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) - offers the Certified Paralegal Examination - Those that pass the OSBA Certified Paralegal Examination are allowed to utilize the designation OSBA Certified Paralegal.
